Pray for South Africa!

The Jericho Walls Prayer Network, together with churches and ministries from around the country, will embark on a 40-day prayer initiative for reconciliation in South Africa. From 7 May to 15 June 2016, we invite you to join us as we humble ourselves before God so that God Himself can heal and reconcile us with Him and with one another. 16 June 2016 (Youth Day) is the 40th commemoration of the Soweto Uprising of 1976 and the prayer guide leads up to this day.

We, at Walmer Methodist, want to pray for all our people and leaders in South Africa. In light of recent eruptions of actual and perceived incidents headlined by social and mass media, we remember that our battle is not against “flesh and blood”. Many people from all the different sectors and levels of our multicultural and multiracial society bear some pain linked to sensitive issues from our past. This manifests whenever there is a potential clash point. We are still not a healed people. Feelings of guilt, hurt, bitterness and hate are boiling just below the surface. May God heal us! 16 June 2016 offers this opportunity.

We have made the prayer guide available here and our hope is that you would make use of this resource over this period. Let us come together as the Body of Christ in a deep and meaningful way.
